[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Detail of a Hindu temple in the Panataran complex.
Not as Big as more Known places in Java (like Bodobudur) but very nice and close to the city of Blitar, where former president Soekarno is burried.

Acording to my old Lonely Plantet guide: "The Hindu Temples at Panataran are the largest remaining Majapahit santuaries, and perhaps the finest examples of East Javanese architecture and Sculpure.
Construction began around 1200AD during the Singosari dynasty but the Temple complex took some 250 years to complete. Mosto of the important surviving structures date from the great years of the Majapahit during the 14th century and are similar to many temples on Bali."
