Altavaddy Bridge - Tollymore

Hope I am not off season with this one but I feel its worth posting. This stone foot bridge spans the Shimna river and is located deep in Tollymore forest park. I would have liked a stronger fall of water but still feel it adds to the composition.

Yes...Iv defiantly put my foot in it this time:$

Hi Stephen! Watching this wonderful photo, I was wondering what your secret was. Rich, saturated colours, moderate light, a perspective for depth, an element in the foreground to complete the background. But I think the most important thing is colour, natural, but not so. It works, it really works.
Is that your tripod in the water? (bottom left) ;-)
As usual, good work! Ah, don't worry about seasons!
Best regards,
Inés

Hi Stephen,

Nice image with great depth. Love the Autumn colors. I really like the modest rivulet of water running in the foreground and the clarity of the trees through the bridge.

(Now for the uber-picky, overly clinical Bob. You captured something I myself have become very adept at through camera tilt - the foot of my tripod. Check the lower left corner.)

Cheers!

Bob G.

Hello Stephen,
very very deep picture. It was very clever to use that little drop of water and nice autumn leaves in the foreground to make an introdusction to your landscape. The colors are extremely rich, but do not seem oversaturated...It might be oversharpened to my taste. I really like the mood going on in this shot.

Very very sad though that we see what seems to me like the bottom of your tripod...

best regards,

Marc

Hi Stephen ,
Nyce and good image, wonderful POV, colours and light
My best regards,

Hi Stephen,
Autumn is always in season in my books - love the striking golds and yellows here against the various shades of green. Nice use of slow shutter speed to render movement in the waterfall. Great work and all the best in 2008. TFS. Gerald

Hello Stephen,

We do not have to stay "On Season" just in the Northern Hemisphere. There must be a place where this is entirely timely, perhaps in Northern Mexico. In any event, this image is well composed, and features vivid colors and excellent resolution. By not showing the top of the bridge, you accentuate the height of the wall. Warm regards and best wishes for the New Year,

Bulent

Just great shot! Great color of the bridge, around the arch

one minor the tripod leg but what the heck still awsome

Hi Stephen. Great photo, especially if you put your thumb over the bottom left corner ;-). Autumn, spring, winter, it makes no difference to us down here in NZ as we are always out of step anyway. I love the colours you have captured in this shot. Excellent DOF and POV also. Thanks for sharing.
All the best for Oh Eight, Paul.

While this doesn't have the same drama or impact of some of your other posts it's still a beautiful shot. You have a nice dynamic between the small waterfall in the foreground and the arch in the background, and as usual you have some really rich and vivid colours. I didn't even notice the tripod leg until I read the discussion - I think we've all done the same or similar and even posted them too (I won't tell you what I did!) so I can't be too hard on you. Nice work!

Hello Stephen,

Today you win the prize of 'my most enjoyed image on TE'. I will add this to my favorites! The shot boosts so many exquisite elements, ranging from the towering archway to the mossy rocks and the puddles of smooth water. Your exposure time, whatever it was worked perfectly to make this photo so enduring. The colour range/variety is substantial, full of interesting earth hues, accentuated by the silky whit of the water. The stony backdrop is formidable but at the same times seems to blend into the surrounds efficiently. Beautiful framing technique! Clarity and sharpness is flawless throughout the scene. There is something quite special about this photo that I can not put my finger on, but it leaves a great impression. Thank you so much.

Matt
