Castelluccio di Norcia Photo

Photographer’s Note

Hapy New Year to everybody. I have taken this picture few days ago near Castelluccio di Norcia, in the Mounts Sibillini National Park, central Italy.
The mountain in the background is Monte Vettore, almost 2500 meters, the highest summit of the park.
It looks like Lapland !
The place is famous for its blooming colors, in june, but I find it amazing in every season of the year.

A very nice shot. The road on the left side contrasts really well with the snowy mountains. I think maybe you could have shot a bit more of the sky. Maybe having the mountains end right on the top right corner of the frame, instead of 1/3rd over from the corner. A small suggestion.

Infatti. Per chi è abituato alle Dolomiti sembra un paesaggio d'altro mondo. Bello scatto con la "solita" ottima composizione. Aspetto le foto sugli sci ;-)

Wow, what an amazing perspective and this road in the middle of nowhere leaves us wondering where is this path leading to. Amazing place, I dont wanna read the note to find out where this place is and what is it, I like it this way, abandoned, the end of the world look.

I see, you use the road to give the picture its perspective, a powerful trick. It looks just phantastic this valley. It's good to see pictures of less known places in Italy. This one makes me want to visit the Monti Sibillini National Park myself (on bicycle). Very well done, Stefano.

incantevole,paesaggio come hai ricordato nella nota incredibile in ogni stagione.

Ciao Stefano, più che la Lapponia sembra il Tibet in pieno inverno, Castelluccio è magico in qualsiasi stagione, complimenti per il coraggio che hai avuto di affrontarlo in questo periodo, splendida la piana piena di neve, maestose le falde del Vettore sullo sfondo, bravo, ciao Silvio

I missed this one, which makes me even more keen to visit the Sibillini in winter! Really well composed with the line of the road leading into the picture and creating a strong perspective.
I agree with Mirari about the sky though, to me the colour seems a bit unnatural and the top line of the mountains also looks slightly oversharpened. Interestingly, I have some autumn pics of the same place with a sprinkling of snow on Monte Vettore and the sky likewise has a bit of an artificial appearance. So maybe it really is the sky of Castelluccio?

This composition I can describe only as a - superb - Lack of symetry is the strongest point here.. harsh brown road in opposite to perfect snowy landscape creates a constrast and let us catch surprisinh proportions much better. Like one a lot!
