[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The year of 2007 was my first complete year at TE. I posted a total of 107 posts from 5 different countries over this year; including 6 different moments where I met TE members from Brazil, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, California and Colorado. That is unbelievable, something that I never would have dreamed off when I started here at TE in April 2006. Needless to say that photography and TE turned to be an important aspect in my life.

A new year is about to start and I remember my New Year’s Resolutions for this ending year. I was quite skeptical in being able to keep it up and even documented that skepticism in my note Facing Reality. Well, looking back over the last 365 days I have to admit that I kept up with my resolutions – at least in the field of photography.

I’m quite curious to see if the same will be applicable for the upcoming year 2008. I wish everyone at TE the best for 2008; not only interesting travelling and outstanding shots, but certainly above all health and peace.

About this shot: During my trip to Brazil I participated at a TE meeting in Paraty. That is a little and wonderful town between the major metropolis of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Time their came to a screeching halt. Buildings are still like they having been during the times when it was a major port shipping all the gold from Brazil, the colony, to Portugal.
I thought that the picture with the house #2008 would be a quite appropriate one to commemorate the New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! HAPPY 2008!

Those are interesting patterns and some soothing colour scheme captured with sensitivity and finesse. Your works are always good and inspiring.

Hello Peter,

The house is pretty. I like the details and the colours. The number is a bit faint on the blue door but is an interesting detail to remind us of the new year. Very good work Peter and have a Happy New Year :-)

Roberto

Hi Peter,

Jacques

a symbolic one for the year to come... so neat and well framed, quite different than your other shots but still great peter...

may all your dreams come true in 2008...

Happy New Year Peter,
From the looks of this great photo your resolution was to take exceptional photos for the entire year. Your collection of images this year shows not only images of your travels, but images taken from your heart as they have portrayed the beauty of the moment through your expertise of capturing light, speed, and depth. The purity of this image we see today is an example of your year's work, perfection unlimited...

Hello Peter,
Very simple but strong shot. I like the colours and good contrasts it offers.
Excellent idea to keep it for today. The entrance in 2008!!
I like your note, too. It is a good start to think about resolutions!
Health, peace but also love in addition to my TE wishes to you.
Marianne

Hey,
This is something like seeing Mr. Pixelterror presenting a B&W image!
Very amazing, yet still sparkling with your excellent care in minute composition control. All the proportions, colors and tripod quality are outstanding. Nice symbolism as well :)
I wish you a superb new year, taking photos of the best landscapes and façades ;)
Cheers,
Deniz

Hi Peter,

What a fantastic picture to close 2007. I couldnt find a more appropriate picture. Nice colors, sharp and a door showing hope waiting on the other side.
Regards and best wishes for 2008,

Peter,

Hi Peter,
Very subtile in a perfect setting composed image. The dark blue and red suit the picture well. The mosaic in the middle is wonderful and a perfect contrast those cobblestones in front which look a complete mess while the house is nice and beautiful decorated...wonderful, i like this a lot.
Excellent work, something i could print and hang on my wall.
Wishing you a happy new year..!!!

hello peter,
You kept it , secretly, on your hard disk, for the occasion, i suppose, quite different than your other shots but the idea is great.

may i wish you all the best to the new year.

Hi Peter,
Wonderful symbolic shot for the upcoming new year, full of simplicity and esthetism.

Hi Peter,
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too! Beautiful shot this one, the colors are awesome, and have been framed to a perfection.

Great coincidence and a clever choice to celebrate the new year. The sharpness is remarkable. Very well done.
I wish you a very happy year.

Hi, Peter. A simple but very neat composition. Everything is very well positioned. I like the contrast between the impeccably painted façade and the cobblestones in front. The idea of the house number is a very good one. So let me also wish you a very Happy New Year. I hope you'll be able to keep up with your resolutions in 2008 as well.

I wonder if you've been hanging on to this for the occasion! I love the simplicity of it. You cropped it perfectly for the most impact showing it as not-quite symmetrical. Excellent tech quality too.
Happy New Year to you too
Kath

Nicely seen Peter. I like the textures and colours of both the building and the stonework. the light is also cer evenly distributed.
Phil

I've never been to Brazil or Paraty but know a great photographic composition when I see one, no matter where in the world it is taken. Great capture.

Hello Peter -

A first look I did not like the image nor did I think it was up to your quality of images. But, another look after lunch and I have changed my opinion. I like the scene and it is up to your quality, but what I don't like is that it looks a bit dull like it could be brightened a bit or just a bit more contrast. I do like the composition and framing and the placement of the elements within the composition. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Peter,
I think this is a nice shot to say "goodbye 2007 and a warm welcome 2008". What I like is the contrast in it: the beautiful non symmetry between the 2 sides with the door and the window divided by the mosaic; the mosaic contrasted by the cobblestones; the beutiful colours of the house with the almost monochromatic of the path..you had a really good eye..as usual!
I wish you all the very best for the incoming new year

Igor

Hi Peter

A beautiful door to enter in 2008, rich of textures, colors... the structure of the shot itself is very interesting, very rich in forms and colors, and very well too isolated of the context. Pretty result!

Happy new year to you and your family!
Angel.

Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Very sharp in detail and beautiful colours.

All the best wishes for 2008!!

Hi Peter and happy new year! I wish good health, happiness and prosperity in every aspect of your life!

Where did you find this beautiful door of 2008? Beautiful architecture detail, great framing and composition, fantastic colours! Congratulations!

Uma linda composição, Peter!
Um FELIZ 2008 para você e todos nós!

Hello Peteri
And Happy New Year,
The owner of this house would have been very happy if had seen this one. Very professional undertaking. You did well to eliminate some parts that would create unwanted spots

Keep well and I wish you many good pictures in 2008 Izzet

Hi Peter,
I know well these colonial houses of Brazil.
Not every Brazilian like related history of them, but everyone agree to artistic value of the houses.
You are presented well one of them.
Best regards and happy new year.

Oi Peter!
As minhas postagens somaram 126.

Hi Peter, eh eh this is funny this is not the first time i'm watching this one and only first time i realize it's written "2008" on the door, indeed a very good way to introduce your 2008 coming gallery !
I recomand you to visit marrakech if you are interested in shooting perhaps what are the best doors and entrance in the world (or at least the world i know and already visit).
Simple and smooth, the simplicity as a great echo with the wonderful frame you did around it.
I like that shot a lot

hello, peter

lovely catch indeed! i enjoy very much your symmetric compositional solution. everything seems to be "right in place" and balanced. the roof edge at the top serves as an excellent frame. good job!

Ola Peter,
A well done documentation of someone's artistic vision and love for their home. Certainly the number fits well. Wishing you and your family health, love & joy in the coming year, Pat

Hello Peter

A very harmonic photo.
It conserves a great balance, the geometric forms emphasize excellently, in a beautiful composition the tonalities and the frame, perfect.

John

Hi Peter!
Happy New Year to you! ( In France, it's possible to give New Year wishes all through January! ) I came across your gallery by chance, and I must say I really like your intro and your photos!
This New Year's card is beautiful in its graphic style and the marriage of the three colours: blue, white and brown!
Maybe, I would have cut out the bottom, which doesn't quite fit the overall style!
Thanks for sharing anyway!
Marie Louise.

Hello Peter, just very nice photo. Great composition, colors and details. Perfect photo quality!
