Dunalastair Water is a small loch situated between Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch. It is apparently unique in the variety and size of the fish you can catch there. Not far away is the base of Schiehallion. It’s difficult to believe this shot was taken on the same day as this one It is said in Scotland if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes! The link will also give you information about Schiehallion and Loch Rannoch.

There is a closer shot of Schiehallion in the WS but the light is dreadful.

Bonjour Kath,
There is a nice habit going on on TE. I saw that many people used to comment their "photo-neighbours"...
So I'll do the same way and I must say that your picture remembered me one of my favourite countries, Sweden a lot.
My husband and I have Scotland high on our list "countries we must visit once" - :o)
The composition works very well and I love those pale tones. Thank you for sharing and have wonderfull time.

Hallo Kath!
A wonderful scenery in a wonderful light. What a view! I like this one, also because of its beautiful buildup, very much!
Greetings from grey, dull and cold Germany - and all the best for the beginning new year!
Frank

Hi Kath

Beautiful photograph! Good sharpness, great colours.
Scotland is really beautiful, even in November ;)

Best regards
Matt

Hello Kath,
Lovely golden tones in this very appealing composition. I like the diagonal perspective formed by the loch whilst the clouds add much to the ambiance of the scene. Very good colours and sharpness.

Wonderful natural colours in this well composed shot, Kath. Another Road to the Isles shot, beautifully lit. Great sky to top if off. I really like the stand of trees on the right.
Regards,
Andrew

Kudos to you Kath!
Liked your philosophy and liked your photographs too :)
This one is also a very good landscape worth commendations.

Hi Kath
Really a quiet place. I like the trees on the right. Great job with the Lee filter.
Happy new year.

Hi Kath,

How beautifully you have captured this remote looking landscape - has such a calm feeling to it. Well composed and I like the natural colours.

A pleasure to look at!!

Hi Kath,

marvelous scenery. Colours creating the mood are magnificent and naked trees leaving enough space to enjoy the view of loch Rannoch. Excellent example of how nature looks magnificent even though there isn't much green where it is supose to be. After 5 minute shot is marvelous too!

Best wishes,
Jeri

Hello Kath,
Another very bright shot with great light on those trees on the right with some darker parts on top which is probably created by the Lee, but it gives a nice effect with some darker tones.
The whole composition is carefully build up with a nice decent to the left and the weater in the middle.

Hi Kath,
Another beautiful image from the Scottish landscape. The dead trees in the foreground look interesting. Composition is well-balanced despite many distinct elements. There seems to be an issue with contrast (rather than resolution) on the right edge, the tree trunks to be specific. Best wishes for 2008!

Hi Kath,

The light and all of those yellow and brownish greens of the landscape are wonderful. I wonder how many of us would be able to make such an attractive compo with such view, certainly beautiful, but perhaps not that easy to catch in a photo. I guess that the small wood on the right and the clouds are the main tricks, but everything looks so nicely tidy...
Very well done!

I truly like the WS a lot. Maybe you are right about the light, but at the same time, it produces a mysterious atmosphere that makes it very attractive, reminding one of those spooky stories that one associates with Scotland.

Regards, José.

Hi Kath,

I enjoy your fine series of pictures from Scotland. This a very well composed and picturesque scene with the fur trees in the foreground, the lake and the mountains. The lighting conditions were obviously difficult but at the same time exciting as it often is in mountainous regions. It is true that it looks a bit like some of the mountainous areas of Sweden and I remember from a visit to Scotland that the trees and the plants were very much the same. TFS. I wish you Happy New Year!

Ulf

Bonjour Kath,
des couleurs et des lumières qui semblent très spéciales dans ce coin.
De toutes manières tu les restitues impeccablement.
Un cadrage parfait et un POV qui inclut ces arbres à droite de manière intelligente.
J'aime beaucoup le ciel aussi.

Regards.
Daniel.

Kath,
that is really amazing and it seems to be a rewarding thing to wait for 5 minutes to get such a magical light. The landscape is absolutely beautiful. The trees on the right side gives a nice anchor for hte rest of the image.
Happy New Year!
Peter

Hello Kath,
I can't keep up with all of your beautiful images of Scotland. You never seem to run out of creative compositions. The scene is lovely and I like the way that your composition slopes downward to the left (most slope to the right). Beautiful photo and a beautiful series!
Stan

Hi Kath,
And a Happy New Year to you and yours! Great autumn shot here with perfect composition, wonderful details, and stunning colors well seen and presented. Great work and TFS. Gerald

Beautiful shot with nice, pale winter colors. A really nice, well balanced composition. Brings back a lot of memories...We visited Scotland in 1969 and it was absolutely fabulous. We camped, and when the weather was too bad we stayed in B&B.
My best wishes for the coming year.
John

Hi Kath,
You're right, the contrast is amazing between the warm atumn glow in thsi shot and the wintery bleakness of the other. I especially like the omplexity of the intersectin diagonals of the lakeshore and the stand of trees. You used the filter very effectively to manage the strong difference in the light to create a great overall exposure.
