Photographer’s Note

Sarajevo is a town, which knows how to live with its dead in a human and open way. Of course one reason for this was the dreadful war in the 90-s, but even more their past. If you walk through Sarajevo, you will see stones (as graves) all over, even in the central park, as shown in this picture. For my "western-theoretic" eyes to see thosse stones was at first unhomely and strange, but at the same time there was something more in their silent gesture of simple forms. Thoose memory stones give a deep and long history, made of the past of all those people, to the town itself.
