And the nearness of his love.
Eternal, Sweet Compassion
A gift from God above.

Hello Veronica,

A very lively and spirited Greeting Card from you to the Trekearth Community. You captured the moment well, with a good composition and colors despite the subdued light. The candy cane stripe, the universal red and white helical pattern for the barber shop has a dubious origin, which you probably knew about. In Medieval days the barber would do the surgery, and after the operation would wrap the patient's bloody arms or legs with white bandage. The professor of surgery would sometimes supervise, but never get his hands into the operations. (I just finished writing the new book "Leonardo's Universe" for the National Geographic Society, and mentioned that tradition of the red and white spiral shape.

I hope that you and your family have a New Year, marked by hope, health, happiness and prosperity.
