Blue City Women
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Jodhpur in Rajasthan is also known as "The Blue City" since so many of the homes and buildings are painted blue...someone told me that it's a welcoming gesture to Hindu gods. In September it was terribly hot and I saw these street vendors perched on their goods in the shade of a big blue wall, staying out of the sun and smoking "bidies"...those cheap, hand-rolled cigarettes. They were not too keen on a Westerner taking a photo so I didn't have much time for this before they both had their faces covered and looked away. Try to be respectful of their wishes and customs. |
