| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This was taken at the Kelso Dunes in Southeastern California. Nearing the top, but trailing far behind my friends (the dots at the top) I decided to take a picture of the prints they had left on the ridge of the dune.
The Kelso Dunes are known for being one of a few places around the world to feature "singing sand." We had read that the sand sounds rather like a tuba when it is stepped on, and we were so excited, thinking that we were going to hear a symphony of sorts. Really, it sounds like a fart.
But the dunes were still beautiful. I fancied myself in Algeria the whole time! |

Very good perspective of this dune Emily. Catchy phrase to capture for catchy picture. What a fart!
