great composition. When I look at the thumbnail I thought the guy was surfing.
I really think fill-flash will improve this picture dramatically.
Or maybe the slide looks fine and the problem is with scanning?

This is an engaging and dynamic shot. I like how the wideangle (24mm?) creates a panoramic effect and dramatic near/far perspective. Your composition is carefully done, with just enough room around the main subject, and the boat close to--but not overlapping--the horizon (which must have been hard on a moving boat). The man's pose is very engaging. Unfortunately, his face/body are in deep shadow. This is made worse by the contrast of his dark skin against the bright sky. I have to repeat others' comment that fill-flash was necessary here (for catchlights too). Otherwise, very good photo.

I just cant believe this excellent shot got so few points.
I think its an amazing one and you have done great with everything...
certainly deserves some more attention...
