[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Picture was captured in a cemetary in county Cork, Ireland. The Celtic cross (or Irish cross) is unique in that it combines the cross with a ring surrounding the intersection. In Ireland, it is believed that the Celtic cross was introduced by St. patrick during his mission in converting the Irish pagans. The ring was supposed to represent the sun, a revered symbol in pagan Irish. St. Patrick combined this symbol to the cross to give an idea of the importance of the cross in human salvation, similar to the life-giving properties of the sun.

It's interesting, in pagan times our ancestors also worshipped the sun.
Actually, most cultures have traces of it. As to this shot,I find it remarkable with a fantastic composition and impressive light. Here comes the sun, really.
I like the graphism I can spot about your shot.

although I'd prefer a bit sharper photo, I like the composition and how you've decided to focus on the silhouettes instead of showing the patterns on the stone cross, the easily recognisable shape of this cross lets you do just that. very strong dramatic mood, and the placement of the sun is just perfect. excellent job.

as usual I look everyday picture of Ireland and I find your picture. the gold background is simply beautiful and it gives a strong contrast with black foreground.
