Helen is one of my favorite local places visit. It is rich in history and on the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The Cherokee city of Gauxule was centered around this mound. Atop the mound was Town Hall and the residents made their homes in flat areas around the mound. According to local legend, around 1540 DeSoto visited the people of Gauxule during his search for gold. The Chattahoochee river flows through the city of Helen and very close to this site. You know when you see the mound that you are almost to Helen!
This shot was taken on a very bright, clear day. Unfortunately, none of the Holsteins that graze this field, were in proximity. Enjoy! |

Hi Laura
Nice view of Helen and surrounding, a good place for a weekend visit. I find this photo interesting to do a workshop (with minimal adjustment to your nicely-shot original version) and hope that you dont mind to have a different look. TFS this photo.
cheers, bill
