Photographer’s Note

Taken in an old quarter in Sanaa , Yemen .
Except that these two guys are selling a mobile phone they look maintaining a long-established tradition at least visually ,wearing a traditional white clothes and chewing a qat leaves (look at their puffed out cheek ! ) and tying a dagger on the belly ,which is actually not sharp enough and not for practial use .
I was under an illusion that I travelled back in time to hundreds years ago untill they asked me to take their picture using thier own SD memory card which came out of his poket ....behind the counter there was desktop computer and memory card reader and ....yeah I know this is how the world is changing ..

A very amusing story to go along with your amusing photograph Yusuke. I like their laid-back expressions and body language. The square crop looks nice here too. Great shot.

Great double portrait, very nicely composed. Some things have changed in the nine years since I visited Yemen, but the afternoon qat parties are exactly the same. These cheeks are so typical!

This must really be a great country to visit! The scene is just great, I just love their pose, their clothes and the detail of their cheeks.A very good composition, colours and light. I'll return to see the other photos of Yemen!
