Photographer’s Note

As like my last photo, this was takes in a park near the Temple of Heaven, as I also said many people were dancing, playing games, exercising, singing & playing music, in this photo one man was singing & the other two playing music for him, they were playing an instrument I have never seen before, it had two strings ( I think) &, one was using a bow & the other was plucking it, I have no idea what it was called, maybe some one could help.

Here is a scene of the very interesting and documentary Chinese life cultural. They are quite curious instruments from where must leave a very exotic sound. The photograph is of excellent quality. Cheer.

Hi Wilson, brilliant idea to use the flash to fill-in. The light from the background would have made this image very dull. I have seen those instruments before... of course as part of the experience of living in New York and riding the subway! :)

Ce sont des instruments de musique probablement proche du violon que nous connaissons chez nous,
Je suis étonné de la quantité de poudre blanche employé !

Very nice candid daily life shot. It's a bit surprising finding those people performing just for fun, as usually there is some monetary interest involved, even if such thing isn't so intrusive. The POV is very well chosen and it's good to be able to have so much details to appreciate.

This is the type of travel photo that I really like. I basically like candid shots showing people around the world being involved in everyday activities. I like to mix mostly candids with some posed shots. I especially like the fact that the musicians are natural and relaxed and accepting of your presence. Excellent work!

Hello Wilson,

A fabulous shot of the the three entertainers. I don't think I've seen the instruments, although they are derivatives of some I've seen. One thing that we can be sure of is that they are unchanged in hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. Your frame complements the photograph very nicely. There is a three-dimensional effect of a curvature.

Hi, Wilson. These Chinese buskers are playing strange instruments. The framing could be a little wider imo. I would have left some space to the right of the musicians and to the left of the singer. The vegetation forms a good background. Maybe you could also have used a wider aperture to blur the background a little and focus more on the buskers.

quite a interactive scene of the singer and the two instrumentalists. I share your ignorance regarding the instruments that are being presented. Usually I don't like very much the use of flash in a picture, but this one here as a special element - betwenn one and the other flash the person in the middle moved its right foot. I like that little detail a lot!

It is an unusual scene to our western eyes and very interesting. I wonder how spontaneous these activities are or if this is the spot they pre-booked. The man in teh middel has a wonderful look of concentration on his face. Well done

A very strange musical instrument indeed, with only two cords and a very small amplification bow at the bottom. You do not comment about the music, how was it?

It is felt that the singer puts strength in his song whereas the two musicians remain concentrated well on their musical instruments which seem rudimentary. Pretty catch of sight over this moment, good framing of the scene. The colors are very pleasant. Beautiful and interesting image.

Hi Wilson. Well caught with plenty of details showing. The man with singing open mouth is particularly good for dynamics. Those instruments are certainly in revival mode, a forerunner of the violin i was told. Very fine contribution to cross-cultural understanding. TFS. Murray.

I was there too and I have similar pictures, someone is playing, a little choir is singing. The instrument you show here is called erhu. You can find it in Wikipedia.
