The Causeway become widely known as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World' from the 1700s when large numbers of visitor's came to view this amazing array of basalt columns, it is estimated that there are around 40,000 in total. Today's visitor is free to wander over the stones.
The coastal scenery adjacent to the causeway is some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring that you are likely to find anywhere.
Here is an ancient story of how this intriguing rock formation was created.

the place is indeed extraordinary, I only wish I had taken some photos when I was there sometime in spring of 1998. but I don't think I would have anything remotely as spectacular as this - we had a nice sunny day, while in your shot the fog and mist makes all the difference. the place looks like a scene from some fantasy land, and the colours further emphasise the dreamy atmosphere. excellent point of view, it clearly shows the basalt colums up close, but still maintains the mystery with the Causway disappearing in the fog. great shot.
best,
Kristine

Hi,

Your picture reminds me of my own trip to Ireland - the places I really wished to visit and I couldn't. I know what it looks like from my guide book, but there is no comparison with your picture / the mist gives it absolutely amazing atmosphere. Well done.

Hi Miguel,
Excellent composition here: the rocks in the forground merge with those to the far right & nicely guide the viewer's eye down to the main subject matter. The 'dreamy atmosphere' is great too, as the others have mentioned.

Miguel,
This is an extraordinary landscape and you have captured masterfully. The long exposure worked very well for you here yielding nice sharpness in the stones while giving the water a surreal look. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Asa

Hi Miguel, beautiful composition. The long exposure time gives a great result. I miss only a scale reference to understand how big thisformation is.

Hi Miguel, A very good perspective of this famous natural feature. It has good foreground details as well as the massive array of basalt columns in the background. Perhaps the best photo of this place i've ever seen. TFS. Murray.
