Photographer’s Note
Daily life in Burma, that says it all really. The hand pump in the garden of the house was broken, he was trying to fix it with his antiquated tools she was waitign patiently to begin her washing. The small stool is where she sits to wash, the yellow plastic basket behind her contains her toiletries, the cloth tacked to the fence defends her modesty. I as stood and wondered at the luxury of my husbands tool-kit back home and the splendid toileries and perfume that adorn my bathroom, the pump sprung into action. With a delightful shrill from her, a smile from me, I took me leave.

Hello Elaine,
An interesting lesson in daily life in a poor country. Poverty and lack of resources can bring out some amazing ingenuity. I visited Burma a couple of times in the early 70's on a long journey that also took me to Afghanistan. They were both fantastic countries with lovely people, making it even sadder to see how everything went wrong afterwards.
Regards,
Gert

I like the earthly hues here and of course the bright shades of the fabrics. The shot is almost...infact it is a documentary like shot giving us a serious insight into life

Hello Elaine
You've described well in your note this scene with these two people who seem to enjoy your presence and you've handled well the available light. You caught them in the right moment, while fixing the pump and I like their posture.
Cheers

Lovely story here Elaine and such wonderful loving and happy expressions. You can feel the man smiling although you don't see his face; I think that's quit something. With all the items displayed this is great documentary photography too. An image that shows your soul while traveling. Sabine

And those luxuries at our homes make us happier? That's the same old question that comes up, when we are travelling in undeveloped countries. They have a harder life but if they have the basics for living, they seem quite happy...but what the hell do I know?
Good daily life capture with the girl nicely smilling, I wonder if because of your camera. Her fingers have a strange look, long and ondulating...

Hi Elaine,
It looks almost like they're engaged in some kind of dance. She's got a big smile on her face, and even if you can't see his face, you can tell he's smiling too.
Best regards,
Lamberto
