Hi Derek,
Because we usually see these formations in living colors, a black and white presentation comes as a surprise - but a very welcome one. I think you did a fine job her with excellent contrasts, perfect details, and very good sharpness. Fine work and TFS. Gerald

Very much a scene from an old Western - the B&W is incredibly rich here, very good sense of three-dimensionality. The clouds and the shadows add an element of mystery.
Well done!

Wow! Great shot of this unique place - the huge rock formations are very dramatic, and I find that the use of black & white accentuates the dramatic nature by allowing us to concentrate on the shapes. Good conversion, with some really nice tones. I like the cloud formation too, which adds a very interesting texture to the sky. Excellent work!

Hi Derek,
I've never seen a b&w from this point, but it really works. The dark tones mix fantastic with the brighter parts on the mittens. Those clouds in a horizontal line are really making this shot. A minor detail, but high on impact and an absolute must for the overal composition...perfect, i like this a lot.

Hello Derek,
You have marvelous composition and the B&W conversion worked beautifully. The deep reds in the original color image always make the conversion to B&W easier. The inclusion of the person on the right is a small but very effective addition to your vast landscape. The B&W conversion forces us to focus on the intricate patterns and textures. Wonderful sense of depth!

Derek,
a composition and presentation in B&W that certainly invokes Adamesque feelings. The contrast is very good. Like the inclusion of that single person giving a scale to the scenery. The cloud formations are the icing.
Happy New Year!

Que c'est beau, et ça change un peu de la couleur pour ce type de photo.
Beau rendu en tout cas.
