This is the fourth in my series on how to live the Beverly Hills life. Just because there's lots of money doesn't mean the Beverly Hills life is totally fun-loving and free-wheeling. There is the all-important matter of tradition, which must be upheld! You may feel that the obscene amount of money you possess entitles you to act as you please, but in fact you are being watched. And you are being judged. Did you display your wealth in appropriate ways, or in the cheap and tawdry ways of those who don't know "The Rules"? Did you shop in the "Right Stores", or in those expensive-but-actually-tawdry places better left to the tourists? Vital matters, including even your future membership on the country club's Board of Directors, depend on your getting these things right.

Hello Ken,
Cool photo amongst the giants of Beverly Hills. Great colors & composition.

Regards,
Latiff.

Hello Ken,
It looks like an advertisement from sixties or fifties...may be this feeling return again to our taste. As for the image is well captured of course and gives a nice sense to me...
Enjoyable like all the images of your last series!

Wishes,
Thomas

Hi Ken,
What a funny but great shot. It looks like the giy is a dwarf comparing to those golden girls int he back. That billboard must be huge and just a small part of a large commercial advertisment. Absolute great pov, i really like these kind of shots..
Regards, Henk

Ha ha ha, this guy seems a bit lost in Beverly Hills ha? I first thought he's carrying a suitcase and he's new in town, that would've been hilarious, but I realized later it's a shopping bag and that's another funny story:) These 'girls' reminded me of "Golden girls", remember them? and those were funny too. I enjoy this kind of shots, big versus small.

Dear Ken...
You've promissed and you delivered...
Another piece of BH life !
And it's a great piece - I must have tell you, bud...
Now - you know my reaction to the common idiocy on TE, to take the photos of the photos on the streets !!!
Namely - photographing posters (which ARE PHOTOGRAPHIC works of someone's else...) unless...
Unless you have a solid excuse for doing just that...
And - you have such excuse Ken...
The grandiso one !!!

You did ypur best to show us the scale, the monstrosity, the weight of these commercial decorations on the streets of Beverly Hills...
Your note is nothing else but the great expalanations WHY did you take the photo of a photo !

Love your idea - Love the picture

Have a sunny one, Kenny boy

Hi Ken - great shot showing a combination of items which makes this incongruous and interesting. The three women seem to be the arbiters of society looking down on everyone walking by and passing judgement on them. Great use of visual language in this!

Hi Ken,

Funny image! Thise giant ladies seem to be making fun of this poor little guy! Well seem.

Regards,

Flavia

wonderful composition and scale

Exceptionally, I agree with George! :)))
I think it is one of those rare cases where the use of the poster (or billboard, or whatever you call that thing there!) is well done and meaningful. Oh dear, you make this man becoming a dwarf! Just ready to be kick out of the frame by one of those high-heel shoes!
Ok, you know me, I will do again some nitpicking. I will clean a little bit the ground. I don't think the shadows on front had to be there. And I might have wish if you had click just a fraction of a second earlier to have the man between the two pairs of feet.
Your note ken... Your note! Would you accept to write my notes for my posts? You know, I [usually] don't post often. It would not require too much work! :))
Love you BH series!

This is such an interesting shot Ken. The small man at the bottom was a pleasant surprise when I opened the thumbnail. His big orange bag helps draw attention to him. Great timing.

Hello Ken -

Of your "BH" series I like this one a lot. This giant advert of of well dressed "grannies" juxtaposed with this dwarf of a man dressed for the beach is downright funny. I am not sure what the advert is about but the image works.

As to your notes - I am not sure if you are being facetious or not. My wife, from the LA area, really hates the "BH" life style and the Rodeo Drive experience. It seems to give everyone a real misconception to the real California life style. This one very small element of California but it seems to dominate everyones perceptions.

Thank you for sharing.

John

I really go for no. 4 if I may choose :) You have an excellent eye for expensive things and I can see that he has a Todd bag but unfortunately my budget is not high enough and I might have to stick with the shoes I have. But as Christmas is around the corner I might get a little bonus if I behave :))) I love the tiny bit of man walking through the photo and I can see that he saw you ... he seems to smile. Cool the lady poster above him making this catch a very special one. Super. Have a good day, and thanks for commenting two in a row ... felt like Christmas :) Barbara.
