Photographer’s Note
Middagtinden (1006 m) is one of the highest mountains at the island of Kvaløya, around 25 km west of Tromsø.
This alpine area is popular among telemark skiers and others who prefer the more vertical mountains.
Some zigzag ski tracks can be seen in the side of the mountain.
This picture is from the Easter of 2006, one of my first digital shots, with a borrowed Nikon E5700.
From Wikipedia:
"Kvaløya is an island in the Norwegian municipality of Tromsø. It has an area of 737 km², making it the fifth largest island in mainland Norway. It is connected to Tromsøya in the east by Sandnessund Bridge, Ringvassøya in the north by the undersea Kvalsund Tunnel, and Sommarøy in the west by Sommarøy Bridge. Sommarøy, at the southwest coast, is a popular recreation area with great coastal scenery.
Kvaløya is a mountainous island, with at least ten mountains higher than 700 m, and three reaching an elevation of more than 1000 m; of which the highest is Store Blåmann (big blueman 1044 m, can be climbed without climbing equipment, last part is steep). There are also several small fjords, almost dividing the island in two or three parts. Rystraumen is a tidal current in the fjord dividing Kvaløya from the mainland. Near this current, on the Kvaløya side, is Straumhella (30 km from the city), a popular recreation area with good fishing opportunities. Ryøya is an island in the midst of Rystraumen, with a small population of musk oxen grazing in the pine forest, the only such population in North Norway.
Approximately 10 000 people live on Kvaløya, most of them on the eastern side at Kvaløysletta (which constitutes a suburban area of the city Tromsø) near the Sandnessund Bridge."

Good capture of contrast and colours. The main suggestion I would make, however, would be if you could have repositioned yourself so that the ski tracks in the foreground led from more of an angle from one of the corners of the frame. This would allow the eye to be led more easily into the centre of the image.

Hi Jon,
I really like great contrast presented here between the little red man and that impressive mountain valley and mountains, enabling us to see how magnificient the nature is.
Another little man further away makes a nice detail, too :)

Hello Jon,
An effective lead-in and fine texture in the snow!
The mountain landscape is impøressive, and I of course notice the amount of snow this late in April...
A well balanced composition, the little red dot is a fine eye-catcher!
Greetings,

Hi Jon,
You have managed the lighting very well considering the intense glare from the snow. I like the fresh tracks in the snow and the person standing at the end which somehow gave scale of dimension to the whole scene. Well captured and composed. Excellent work! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hi Jon,
Beautiful perspective with these tracks in the snow. I also like very much these 2 zones of shadow which still emphasize the relief.
Congratulations

Bonjour Jon,
elles sont superbes ces montagnes de Nord de la Norvège. J'aiem beaucoup le fait de voir cet homme tout petit devant ce géant de neige et de pierre.
Une toute bonne balance de blancs et un ciel d'un bleu séduisant.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Jon,
A fabulous POV, with that lonely skier in the vastness white standing up despite of its small size because of the converging lines of the image. Great depth and clarity.
Regards, José.

Is a great think to feel lost in the middle of the whiteness, in the middle of much snow, I like it very much.
I hope we will have also much snow here this year like some years ago.

Belle photo de cet endroit superbe et froid, ces traces donnent tout leur effet et cet homme en rouge et les traces diminue l' immensité de cette vue.Jolies couleurs et bonne netteté, les ombres sont bien aussi dans cette prise.
