Station Actowski on the Artic Peninsula in Jan 1993.

Staring in Punta Arena we cross the Cape Horn. With the most possible bad weather conditions we cross the the ocean and everybody was happy to reach the peninsula of Antartica. Along the von-Neumeyer channel we reach oen of the scientific station on the island - the Staion Actowski. Here you write postcards and send them home. As there is only every half a year a ship bringing provisions to the station it takes some time before they reach Europe.

Scanned with 3000dpi, cropped, re-sized, sharpened

Distance between my last shot and Antartica about 12.600km.

An extremely interesting picture! This is as close as I will get to Antartica!! This must have been exciting for you though. A very nice picture! TFS

Hello Achim,
Nice view and never ending perspective! The light is very nice, giving a special mood and peaceful atmosphere!

Greetings,
Thomas

Hallo Achim,
Sehr ruhige entspannende Aufnahme.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hello Achim,
An interesting landscape nicely composed. I like the layered effect and the soft colours and light. Thanks for sharing.

Wow!
My, friend!
it must be very interesting place. I very like your composition, good colours and light. I never been in Antarctida.

Hallo Achim,
It is a very interesting image because it shows us a very remote place and because it does it in a good setting and with many chromatic quality. The scanned one to 3000 dpi has given a good quality of image to this old photo and has preserved very well the colors.
I like it, is a good work of recovery of your ancient files, and is agreeable at sight.
Best regards,
Josep

Achim,
Very interesting rock formation in this view. The sea in the foreground is a nice element to compose there. Nice job.

Hi Achim,

what most attract me in this one is the the beautiful emptiness of the water and the unsual horizon line, at least pretty different than we usually see. It's a very good image. Your decision to scan this old one and post it here is welcome. Pleasant view and well executed scan work!
Regards,
Carlos
PS: thanks for your words on my last post.

Hi Achim,
Really fascinating landscape the POV is very impressive and spectacular. I like the nice perspective and the gorgeous lights. Original view, indeed. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice day

Hi Achim,

I like the way the ice is over the sea. I also like how small the station look. That should lead humans to humility...

Cheers,

Loïc

You've been to Antarctica too Achim! You're a true traveller, my hats off to you. A vast wildnerness with the exception of the bold yellow stations. The rocks stand out. Good one!
Best Regards
Angshu

Hi Achim,

A good POV of the Station Actowski, the photo has a good composition, DOF and beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Achim,
I decided to say some words about this picture because it's so rare to see images from this part of the world. Although it's a scanned one there are some very lively colours. The grey of the rocks is very impressive and so is atmosphere of the sky. Excellent point of view and composition and the eye catching yellow houses and green/yellow vegetation holds our attention in the frame. Very Impressive!! Have a nice weekend.
