This is my second posting of Luray Caverns from a day trip of last October. Without a tripod, I set up again my camera on a stone and pointed it up to take this low perspective. The overexposed areas are those where the spotlights shone.

Luray Caverns are a large, celebrated commercial cave just west of Luray, Virginia, USA, which has drawn many visitors since its discovery in 1878. The underground cavern system is generously adorned with speleothems (columns, mud flows, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, mirrored pools, etc). The caverns are noted for the Great Stalacpipe Organ, a lithophone made from solenoid fired strikers that tap stalactites of various sizes to produce tones similar to those of xylophones, tuning forks, or bells.

Privet, Danilo,
I've been wondering what's it like to hear the Tocata e Fuga by J.S. Bach in such a concert hall.I bet, the sensation would be unforgettable.

Hi Danilo,
A difficult light well controlled and a nice low POV with people giving scale. I like the graphism of the stalagtites...
Well done
Laurent

Hi Danilo, so many people in a cave! And the stalactites over the heads look impressive.
Cheers
Evangelos

Hello Dan,
Wonderfully captured ... I like your low angle shot here. Good utilization of low lighting conditions creating a wonderful atmosphere. Well composed and good inclusion of the crowd to create some scale of dimension. tfs
Cheers,
Renier

A very impressive display of the stalactities! I love the orange lighting, and the fact the photo is generally very sharp. A well captured image,
Dave.

Olá Danilo, impressive view of this carpet of needles coming from the ceiling. Considering that you didn't had a tripod, you managed to get an excellent POV, good overall sharpness and beautiful lighting. The WS of Daniel is a good work and I understand the crop, although I feel that you have more depth here and I like that.
Best regards,
ricardo

Hi Danilo. A brave shot without a tripod. The entire canvas looks like a stage. Beautiful colour management and impressive silhouettes of the visitors.Great work, Regards.

Hi Danilo,

very impressive interior shot. I guess you didn't use tripod but the fact is that you still kept focus and sharpness on the image. I like your white balance control that brought interesting warm tones to the scene. Spectacle of nature and well captured by you. Well done!

Hola Danilo.
Splendid colors and light, very well captured despite the adverse conditions, good POV, sharpness and frame. The presence in your shot of people give a nice motion to the quiet place. Well done. TFS.
Best regards.

Hi Danny!

Awesome colours and you were quite lucky to have a spot to position your camera.
I just noticed that the camera focused on the center which created some depth to the surrounding limestones.
I can't view the photo info but I guess a bigger f value and slower shutter could have probably gave more definition to the whole area above.

Andrew

Hello Danilo
With so many people around, I wonder whether you would have had place to put the tripod if you carried one. Excellent exposure to show us the light & shadow effect on the stalactites. I liked Daniel's WS, has definitely enhanced the visual impact. Very good work!

Angshu
