This floatplane is resting on the Kuskukwim River. Having traveled in 'Bush Alaska' some, where there are no roads between villages, it was nice to visit a village with mountains in view. Much of Alaska's western and northern coasts have no mountains.
This was taken after sunset with the last few moments of daylight. I didn't have my tripod so I had to rest the camera on an angled rail hoping it would be solid enough for the long exposure.
Small planes like this are very common in Alaska. Many are on floats to land on water but most have wheels. Many owners change to skis to land on lakes in winter or even glaciers. |

Hi Vanessa,
This is a nice composition. A bit soft, but that works well with the scene. The different shades of the silhouetted hills give depth to the photo. Well done.
