Photographer's Note

The fishing boat "Allouche" is about to leave with a crew of 25 men aboard. Some of them are still on the quay, as you can see, including the guy with the yellow shirt.

A member of the crew told me that he enjoyed his job that he had been doing for 10 years, that they were leaving each day (except when the meteorological conditions were really too bad) at 4 to 5pm, coming back every morning between 8 to 11am.

Their main cash are the sardines, a big export from Morocco and he told me that there were enough fish at sea : each day, they were coming back with 1,5 to 2 tons of sardines. Those men seemed content to work together and proud to be photographed. This was the most colourful boat at that time in the harbour, at around 5:30pm...

This is the most 'packed' photo I've seen in years...
Actually - the only one item I've not been able to spot in there is a kitchen sink !

bella immagine, ci mostri molto bene il modo in cui questi pescatori lavorano. La foto è ricca di informazioni e di dettagli.
Mi piace sapere che sono contenti di fare questo lavoro. Ci sono persone che non sopportano di lavorare in un posto chiuso, e passare le giornate sul mare è il miglior modo di stare in piena aria. Ma soprattutto penso che in Marocco ci sia tanto bisogno di lavorare e quindi è già una gran cosa non essere costretti ad emigrare.

Hard life -- full of risk -- that is the story of the high sea fishermen all over the world. And you got it right here, Cath. I liked the collectiveness of the people and more so that you always initiate a dialogue with the subjects of your shots. That perhaps makes your shots very lively.Looking for similar presentations. Superb colorful and alive picture, Cath. Great POV, excellent timming with the yellow guy in action, wonderful dynamic composition, starting with the yellow shirt and following the line along the edge of the boat that contains the whole scene. Busy and very interesting image. Love this one!

Salut Catherine,
This series of Morocco is a good surprise after another. In fact, it has already ceased being a surprise. They are gorgeous, full of life, very well composed and sharp, and, in this case, also very nicely colourful. I admire much you talent for catching these candid daily life scenes and showing them so effectively to us.
