Photographer’s Note

I'm not very lucky when I have to photograph people, it's a fact. Nevertheless I'm plucking up my courage now to post this picture taken during the french ceremony of the 14th July 2007 in Biarritz.

Walking far from the parade I saw these two children hiding themselves near the military, trying to observe them and without any doubt, I hope, trying to make them loose their serious and their concentration.

In the art of camouflage I already don't know who was the winner between the children and the military.

I hope you'll like it despite my lack of ease in people photography.

Je ne suis pas très heureux lorsqu'il s'agit de photographier les gens, c'est un fait. Néanmoins je prends mon courage à deux mains pour poster cette photo prise lors du cérémonial du 14 juillet 2007 à Biarritz.

Marchant assez loin du défilé j'aperçus ces deux enfants jouant à se cacher pour observer les militaires et sans doute, je l'espère, pour leur faire perdre leur concentration et leur sérieux.

Dans l'art du camouflage je ne sais toujours pas dire aujourd'hui qui des enfants ou des militaires fut le meilleur ce jour là ;)

J'espère que vous apprécierez malgré mon peu d'aisance dans ce type de photographie.

Tu as eu le coup d'oeil et j'aime bien ce moment capturé où les gamines jouent... Par contre, je me dis que côté cadrage j'aurai peut-être fait autrement de sorte à porter davantage l'attention sur la petite scène... Beau N&B en tout cas !

Bonjour David,
Lorsque que je lis ton commentaire, après avoir été interpelé par ta publication, je trouve que c'est très bien vu et très bien restitué et surtout avec l'intitulé de la photographie qui convient à merveille.
A bientôt sur TE pour de nouvelles aventures.

C'est vrai qu'en France, on n'est souvent pas très à l'aise pour photographier des personnages. Cela étant, ça aurait été dommage de passer à côté de cette photo, dont la composition est vraiment excellente. Même le mur, avec ces quatre lignes verticales se met du côté rigide des militaires. Merci aux deux fillettes, et bonne idée qu'un noir et blanc ici.

You did a great job, David. Your shot has a message; it makes the viewer think. It is technicallly very good, too, especially the way the cadrage is divided into two, accentuating the two different worlds. Congrats.

Hi David,
a great one ! It´s charming, how the younger shy one holds the other girl and how they are prepared to ecape. I also like the strong contrast between the two worlds you are presenting here.

A bit like old school Magnum or Life 50's 60's especially when you'v choised to show it in BW. Great lines and the peculiar curious expression from the girls.

J'adore :-)
C'est d'abord le noir et blanc combiné à un titre accrocheur qui a attiré mon attention.
Et je ne regrette pas d'être venue voir!
J'aime beaucoup l'humour qui se dégage de ta photo. D'un côté ces deux fillettes insouciantes et de l'autre, ces militaires on ne peut plus sérieux. Excellent. Merci pour la note et pour le partage.

This is a magnificent scene!
I like very much the moment and action got, with the kids just playing and hiding from the militars.
The composition made works pretty well with the proportions used.
I think that this time you did it great with the picture of people.

Belle composition où l'humour est très présent (superbe, l'attitude des deux petites filles)....mais en couleur ça devait être pas mal aussi avec les tenues camouflées.....?

A very good and candid shot, a well seen and a well captured decisive moment. The black and white format seems to suit this kind of photo well. It's high in quality with good sharpness and lighting. Nice one!

extra cette prise. j'aime beaucoup le contraste entre ces deux enfants et ces militaires. Le jeu de cache-cache me plait beaucoup. Bravo également pour la conversion n&b très bien gérée.

une photo cocasse et un peu humoristique, c'est bien entendu 100% TE cela. Une photo dont le passage en N/B n'a rien enlevé au charme et à la qualité.
C'est pas mal cadré et bien exposé.

this is cool capture, dave and very apt for BW tone.
the curiosity of these 2 young girls is captured so well that i am curious as well if they are there for the ceremony or for the guys, for the guys, of course, no doubt...:-). the right amount of lighting stands out well.

Belle photo NB de ce rassemblement de soldats camouflés sauf pour ces deux jeunes fillettes qui les ont vu il me semble.Même si ce n' est pas dans vos habitude photographiques, elle me semble bien réussie, même si je ne suis pas un spécialiste dans ce domaine du NB.
Je vous souhaite de bonne fêtes de fin d' année et que l' année 2008 vous apporte a vous et aux personnes que vous aimez bonheur et prospérité.
