Hi Rhona, night photography is very difficult with a compact camera. But this is a brave attempt. The leaves have come out a very strange colour because of the flash. What you need to do is get out from under there and switch to manual mode and switch of the flash. Next, find something very solid to rest your camera on and take some shots with long exposure. You should find the results a lot more pleasing.
Do keep experimenting - after all that is part of the fun!
