Photographer’s Note
... or some may call it "Mackerel Sky".
Right here is what is now my probably most photographed location (please see some of my other pictures) on a beautiful cloudy day. The location is Brightlingsea's Bateman's Tower on the beautiful Essex coast. On this day, the clouds were taking control of the sky, but rather poetically they lead all the way from the heavens to the little tower in the distance.
Thanks for looking.
Regards,
TW

Hi Tim,
Great shot there. looks like it was a great day, perhaps but with a hint that the coldness of Winter is around the next corner. I like as well the way the clouds almost appear to be coming out of the small lighthouse! Great shot.

Beautiful cloud formation here. You really captured it well, I like how the tower is right at the start of the clouds. Did you consider cropping the bottom even tighter. As the water is quite uninteresting, and a very bland colour. Maybe cropping closer to the horizon would have yielded an interesting result.

Hi, Tim!
It looks like a cotton field in the sky. I loved the way you captured it.

Wow, what an amazing sky you've captured. The lighthouse provides nice scale and subject to the scene. Well done.

Hi Tim!
Superb capture. The sky with these clouds is very spectalular. I like the POV and the colors as well.
Thanks for sharing!

Great POV Tim. The clouds seem to emanate from the tower to create these nice repeating patterns. Nicely done.

Hi Tim.
You've made that amazing polarised sky look like some dense carpeted ceiling over this sparse landscape. The clouds seem to emanate from that tower. I would crop this shot so the tower is just a little more to the left, and perhaps a tiny bit off the bottom. But it's a very dramatic scene as it is. Well done.

Andrew

Hi Tim
Gorgeous sky greatly enhanced by te vertical frame.
It's quite a coincidence that I, too, love giving so much to the skiy
It's just GREAT!

La tour semble attirer toute cette bande d'altocumulus donnant son aspect étrange à ta très belle photo.J'aime bien la version publiée en WS qui a un peu plus de punch.

Altocumulus has always been one of my favorite clouds for photos, it actually makes the photo in itself no matter what else you use on the ground.
This photo is no different, the Ac creates a beatiful effect with the classic mackeral sky.
I bet if you were there at sunrise or sunset they would have been glowing a bright red!

Hi Tim,
it's funny that we both are uploaded similar pictures with equal clouds at the same day!
But in your picture the light is much more better than in mine... Realy good job.

Tim - Good composition I'm a fan of cloud pictures. This is probably Stratocumulus rather than Altocumulus - the cells are a bit on the large side for Altocumulus which usually occurs at altitudes above 8000ft. Sorry to bang on a bit but I used to be a Meteorologist in a past life. But as a photographer this is a great cloud photo.

Hi Tim - Great shot! Did you go cloud chasing to get this? (I think I would have ;-)) Or were you already on the scene? The vertical format is lovely. The clouds look 3-d. Rgds, Leilani

it's an absolutely amazing sky, and you captured it perfectly. Good vertical framing, the tower adds scale.
