ciao, inta. i love this one. the folded sails nicely complement the sky both in texture and color. well seen. i like the overall feel of your composition too. speaks loudly about a relaxing evening by the water.

Hello Inta,

I came by this lovely image by a circuitous trail, but found it most compelling. It is from late July, and the light is brilliant as is the composition and resolution.

So you are from Latvia, an accountant who calculates more than she writes, but most important, experienced from the days of photography when one worked with safe (red) lights in otherwise dark darkrooms. I found your personal statement to be engaging. I identify with the calculation (I'm a theoretical physicist, a professor of physics), I do write a great deal, and most importantly, I remember well the experience of printing photographs. Develop the film, hang it dry; to make prints; put the film in the enlarger, paper in the easel; expose and dodge the paper... The modern generation has no idea how much work it was. From those days, I posted a photo, Bubble About to Burst. I'm sure you'll remember when it really was a great deal more work to do creative photography.

As for the Latvian, In 1990 I was giving lectures on a cruise; the ship visited Leningrad (before it reverted to Petersburg), and we were bound for the nations of the three small East Baltic Nations -- Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia (I don't think they are all on sea), but at the last moment the visits were canceled. The Berlin Wall came down, and international politics was at a turmoil. We visited Gdansk instead.

Very nice shot and POV as well the colours. Don't be jealous of new camera because it's not only a camera who makes good photos, but let's be hinest, it helps very much doen't it!
