[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A delve into my slide collection for the next set of photographs.

I begin with a short series of pictures taken in Stratford on Avon in June 1989. The original slides have been digitised and then 'cleaned-up' in Photoshop CS2 and NeatImage.

The first one shows boats moored on the River Avon on a summer's evening at a location not far from The Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford.

The following information about the Avon is taken from Wikipedea:

“The River Avon or Avon is a river in or adjoining the counties of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire in the Midlands of England. It is also known as the Upper Avon, Warwickshire Avon or Shakespeare's Avon. The river has a total length of 96 miles (154 km). Avon is an anglicisation of the Welsh word for 'river' (spelled afon in Welsh).

The source of the Avon is near the village of Naseby in Northamptonshire. For the first few miles of its length between Welford and the Dow Bridge on Watling Street, it forms the border between Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. On this section, it has been dammed to create Stanford Reservoir. It then flows in a generally west-southwesterly direction, not far north of the Cotswold Edge and through the Vale of Evesham, passing through the towns and villages of Welford, Rugby, Wolston, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Welford-on-Avon, Bidford-on-Avon, Evesham and Pershore, before it joins the River Severn at Tewkesbury.

The Avon's tributaries include the Rivers Leam, Stour, Sowe, Dene, Arrow, Swift, Alne, Isonbourn, Sherbourne and Swilgate as well as many minor streams and brooks.”

Hello Stephen,
a good balance of light for the impression of beginning darkness but also enough to see. I like the warm impression and the long curve of boats on the Avon. Good framing and format.

The mood created in this picture is simply wonderful with those boats so interesting placed. I love the tonality, looks like from another times.
A very expressive atmosphere captured and interesting exposition showing the silhouettes of the bridge and houses.

Hello Stephen. The quality of this old photo is still considerable. In addition, one photographs nowadays still with film, which is afterwards digitized. In your photo one sees the last sunbeams. Nice oldie, Stephen, the sky is gone but the row of boats is superb, and the fg light is very beautiful! Very good sharpness.
