Thanksgiving is almost here in the USA. We will celebrate on Thursday, and I want to wish all the TE members who are celebrating a wonderful holiday. :-)

In the USA Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, and the first celebration was held by the Pilgrims in Plymouth Colony Massachusetts in 1621.

The traditional foods are: turkey, stuffing, sweet potato, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and more. The traditional drink is apple cider.

There are also other traditions associated with this day, such as parades, and football games. The day after Thanksgiving is usually the unofficial start to the holiday season here, and the biggest shopping day of the year.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hi Brenda,
Josep

Hi, Brenda. First of all, let me wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. I saw this posted a day before Thanksgiving, so at first I wondered how you could have made the whole meal already. But now I see that this is last year's turkey. Because we're here to help one another, I have to tell you that I don't think this is your best photo. While it serves the purpose of the site admirably in showing the trappings of an American tradition, I honestly find it to be a rather unappealing image. It's a still life -- no movement -- so you don't need the flash. Put the camera on a tripod or surface and use a slow shutter speed. (Or get some more lights on it.) As it is, everything seems to be glowing with a plasticky light -- the turkey, the salads, etc. And I also think you could have stood back a little for a better composition, a more interesting one. Anyway, maybe you know all this. A year has gone by since you took this and you've obviously been learning with each new post. I hope you don't mind my critique. And I hope you enjoy this year's turkey. -Best, -Hugh

(P.S. Even though I'm not too happy with this photo at all, I'm giving you two points because, after all, it's Thanksgiving!)

Ciao Brenda,
Ciao,
Paolo.

Hi Brenda,
Better late that never. Happy Thanksgiving.
Maybe the quality of the picture is not a 'profesional shot ' but something 'home made' is always better. Nice Picture.

Hi Brenda

Great view on dining table. Makes the viewer hungry. Everybody has a share to bite. Technically, it looks ok, but visually the items on the table are not well placed and angle of shot can be tried at various ways to get your best one. Just a comment. Well done. Amen.

TFS, cheers

Hi Brenda,

A very well composed picture with excellent sharpness and nice colors. Personally I would have moved the nearest glass a little bit to make the bowl behind it more visible. TFS and have a nice week-end!

Cheers,

Ulf

Hello Brenda!
Obviously you are a great cook - both of roasted turkeys and of remarkable photos;-) Impressive are the images of the crystal glasses - for their festive glittering.
Have a nice weekend!
Anton

Ah, Thanksgiving! It's funny how I miss more about Thanksgiving than Xmas. Maybe it's the family unity and remembrances, but; maybe it's just the turkey stuffing....
