This September trip to Lake O'Hara was supposed to mark the end of my summer camping season, and also get some final shots of the mountains before the snows came. As you can see, I didn't manage to get there in time, because when I got up in the morning everything was covered in fresh snow. The boats which only one day before people had been happily rowing around the lake were covered with snow and ice - symbolic of the end of summer and the beginning of winter.

Nice shot Alvin;

It's shots like this that get me excited about my trip back- less then 3 weeks now!

Excellent levels and I love the details in the cliffs.
Great job!
- Dan

Beautiful shot here. The fresh snow looks lovely on the dock and the boats. I love the clouds around the mountain peaks.

Great shot before the harsh winter starts to set in.

hello Alvin

I know this place but in september only , it's now different , Great POV , splendid colors

My regards

Hi Alvin

Brrr. It snowed in Seoul last night. Wonderful reflections & a different view to the usual tourist postcards. Perfect sharpness. Well done!

helloo Alvin
we had the same weather in France. Winter came the last week. 50 cm of snow at 1800 metres. not progression but brutality in the coming of winter. but that give nice occasion to success very beautiful composition as this one. Fabulous Bristish Columbia
have a good day Alvin

Terrific colours and a very good composition. Your note makes the picture even more fascinating.

hello Alvin,
superb landscape, the light is also good.

Hi Alvin,
A warm glow created by the sun, but also a cold picture seeing the first snowfall in the rockies. How was the right side, also good light? I ask because a wider view (a two stitch exposure will do the trick) would have give you some more i think with the view over the lake. But maybe that part was not interesting enough and suffers of bad light...who knows.
Regards, Henk

Good detail and the exposure is spot on. I like the boats on the FG for added interest.
Well done.

Hi Alvin,
A wonderful early winter scene here from O'Hara. I really like the light layer of snow on everything and the foreground see-through water is very good. The nice partly clouded sky provides a fine canopy for the image in great light and sharpness. Great work and TFS. Gerald

Hi Alvin. Still winter can be incredibly beautiful especially with the snow as you have shown us here. The reflections are tops as is the sky. I wouldn't worry too much about missing the snow because it gave you a spectacular shot. Great shot Alvin!

Hi Alvin,
Again here a view that demonstrates how much clarity fresh snow can add to an image, I'm in need of sunglasses to view this, lovely place in these conditions and it seems they were surprised by this early snow and did not have time to shelter the boats for winter... which turned positive for you because it strengthens your foreground.
Have a nice day jY

Very nice this one, Alvin - technically and compositionally one of the nicest Rockies photos that I have recently seen on TE. Good choice of the vertical format, and beautiful tranquil impression rendered by everything - natural and man-made elements - covered by a first coating of snow. Well done.

Alvin, your photos keep feeding the fire in me to go back next year and take more pictures of BC. If you isolate the two boats on the foreground, it is one nice piece of photo already! Beautiful.

Thank you for your visit and comment on my photo, "Writing On The Stone".

Hi Alvin,
It is an impressive image for September, I suppose that the first snowfall that already announces that the winter approaches.
The landscape has remained very nice, the snow heightens the shapes of the mountains and decorates the forest and the lake, and the reflections in the water, the boats and this beautiful sky add a great aesthetic interest to the composition.
A fantastic shot, with a good vertical format.
Best regards, my friend,
Josep

Excellent contrast of the snow with the dark blue of the sky! Really interesting picture, with good perspective! I also like the reflection on the water, that doesn's even let us see the color of the water, just like a mirror! Well done!

Hi Alvin,

A nice image of lake Ohara and of the Canadian Rockie covered with snow, the photo has a good composition, DOF and beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing.

Good afternoon Alvin!
Great composition with beautiful view at the mountains.Nice foreground, freshly fallen snow, excellent clarity of the lake's water.
Beautiful postcard from Yoho National Park

Hi Alvin, this is a great picture here, i just regret your tripod couldn't be set taller in order to get more reflexion in this lake but sharpness and clarity is amazing, those canadian lakes are perhaps the best place all over the world for landscape shooting.
A pleasure time to watch the result and dream without moving from my chair
