THESE ARE NOT PETS! They are wild or semi-wild, like the numerous cats that roam around the island. They are let free to reproduce themselves , but they have to fend for themselves, once the tourists have gone! They tend to take pity on them and feed them, but it's probably more difficult afterwards!
This cat family had made their homes on the terraces of the little rented houses among the olive trees of my post 69! The large garden full of exotic trees was their playground, but they lacked no hunting ground I suppose, in the surrounding hills!
As we are cat lovers (see my group themes: cats everywhere!), it made us feel at home finding a cat family at our doorstep, when we came back from our days out, but I repeat they are not pets, as this photo which had already been critiqued by 15 members (Thank you to all of them) was desactivated unfairly last week. I then received an e-mail asking me to defend my cause, in order to have it reactivated, which I did; but the administrators seem to have ignored it!
Anyway , I hope some other people will enjoy it, and I will be able to add it to my theme!

Marie Louise I am so glad this photo is back as it really deserves to be appreciated. Your information is really quite informative and instructive, as always. Besides being a charming and well taken photo.

Hi Marie. I liked the shot. Liked the theme. Liked the details narrated. But couldn't make out the deactivate and reactivate syndrome! That apart, a good thematic shot indeed. TFS.

I believe in you. After the summer, there are many lonely, hungry and pity cats and dogs around. I feel so sad for them. This photo is very meaningful,I respect all the animal lovers,

Salut Marie Louise,
lovely daily life scene, so usual in that part of the world (in mine too), nice small details, a great note and of course the main subjects the cats. You've captured this scene very well.
(Hope the best for your previous photo, sometimes there are misunderstanding here).

As a cat lover I am all with you! Makes me always so sad to think about the life of these wild, homeless cats, apart from the freedom. Well done, it's a good pic showing them agglutinated together and with a nice note. Hope it stays here now!

I´m happy that this photo got reactivated because it´s so wonderful but also very emotional!
A straying cat who obviously isn´t fed regularly has 5 kitties who are exhausting all her reserves! I hope she can bring up all of them without suffering too much!
And I think there is also a quite interesting family tree: all of them look different - but noone looks like their mom!

Salut Marie Louise

hello Marie Louise,
Crete and cats go together,Corfu and cats go together, Kefalonia and cats go together.... I like this one because there is something endearing and comical about this mother still nursing such big babies!A very Greek image.

Ah !

Very compelling image of these wild cats gathering together to catch the warmth of the afternoon sun. It is obvious that these are not pets because only wild cats would reach this level of cooperation. I too have run afoul of the Trek rules against family pets by taking photo of dogs working together in a communal setting.

Hola Marie Louise,

Bravissima.

The cats stand out well against the background. One mother cat and five kitties feeding... each one different from the others. It gives the sense of a close-knit family.

I love cats. I love pets and wild and semi-wild creatures! I myself have a cat.. Well, what can I say here? Very good note and very good photo! Just because it's a very nice photo which evokes very warm feelings, but also very sad, at the same time.

Good morning Marie Louise,
nice the snapshot with the loose cats that were gathered all together in this door-mat. Really what they made there, which decision they took?
Have a nice Sunday,Danos

Bonjour Marie Louise,
as a cat lover I appreciate this fantastic image a lot, it is showing the family life of these creatures from a very well working POV. And as already mentioned by Bev, it is astonishing that mother cat is still nursing such big babies.
My compliments – also for the touching note!

Hi Marie Louise,
That is adorable! Poor Momma, she has to feed so many! Besides, aren't those kitties a bit old to be nursing?
We recently had a similar sight in our house. Friends of ours adopted a stray who turned out to be pregnant. While they were on vacation, we took the mommy and the two surviving kittens (one of their siblings was stillborn, another died a few days after birth). When our friends got back from vacation, the mommy was ported back to them, but the kittens stayed.
