| The Soutrivier (Salt River) is believed to be the ancient "bed" of the Orange or Gariep river that forms the border between South Africa and Namibia. The water from this river is more salty than that of the Dead Sea! This particular view of the salt river is more or less at the place where the N7 - the main main National Road between South Africa and Namibia and the train line delivering iron ore from Sishen in the Northern Cape to Saldanha on the West Cost "crosses" each other about 20 km outside Vanrhynsdorp on (the way to Bitterfontein). |
