Located in the Chhetrapati District in Kathmandu, there is a colourful buddhist stupa kanown as the Kathesimbhu Stupa. Kathesimbhu means "Kathmandu Swayambhu". Not only is the stupa easily recognized as a smaller version of the one at Swayambhu, it also claims to have been built from stones and earth left over from the latter. Thus a walk around the Kathesimbhu stupa promises the old and lame the same blessings as a pilgrimage to Swayambhunath's hill.

Although the present stupa dates only from the 17th century, the many chaityas (small stupas shown on the picture) and sculptures of gods from the Mahayana pantheon, show the site itself to be considerably older.

Salut Vincent,

Hi Vincent.

Excellent bokeh! IT's nice how the details are getting blurred and blurred...

Well done!

Rgs, Oscar

Hello Vincent,

Nice colours and details in these structures. They seem very attractive and characteristic of this culture and region. Good clarity and composition. The first Stupa is a strong focal oint. Thanks.

Salut Vincent

Wonderful daily life shot from Kathmandu. I like the shallow dof & selective focus here. Good sharpness on the fg Buddha. Attractive muted colours & good repetition. Merci pour le partage, et bon Lundi!

In these places I also look for such details, since they attract me very much. Well composed with good use of the shallow dof. The colors are interesting here, indeed.

It is a very nice picture with an excellent DOF which really makes the front Buddha to stand out nicely. Well done.

Salut Vincent,

Hi Vincent!

Fantastic capture with amazing composition and perspective and very impressive depth of field. Perfect light managment, too! Congratulations!

bonjour Vincent

Hello Vincent,
Indeed very psychedelic captured!I like very much the blurred background to take the interesting the Stupa in front...

Thomas

Bonsoir Vincent,

Bravo!

Amicalement,
Angel.

Hi Vincent,
Nice repeating patterns and DOF. Did they deliberately painted it this way or is it the original color scheme? Wonderfully captured and composed! Well done! tfs

Bonjour Vincent,

Very nice and interesting images with a very narrow depth of field! The photo is very well composed and the blue accents on the stupas are fascinating. It should have a story behind those.

Thank you for your visit and comment on my photo, "Writing On The Stone".

Salut Vincent,

Interesting photo and note Vincz. Good capture rivh in details and with an interesting dof in action.

Very good DoF here, Vincent, to isolate the central stupa while still keeping the details of the other ones, colours are nice, it is a pity that the upper part is cut off...

Cheers

Well seen and framed.

Hi Vincent
Interesting statues. Good depth of field and nice colours in the background.
Merry Christmas

Very nice photograph. I love Kathamndu. This site was very run down and dirty till the new monastery. I love the everyday use of all monuments, part of daily life the best!
