Exodus 14:16 "As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall go through the midst of the sea on dry land.

Psalm 78:13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand up like a heap.

Not sure what was going on here at Ballintoy but there seemed to be some sort of open air religious service. Some tourists seen this as a great photo opportunity and climbed this bank behind them to steal a shot I chose a higher (out of the way) POV in order to best capture the huge waves rolling in.

Here in this capture it looks like the man is holding a staff and dividing the waters, you know like the biblical story of Moses and the Israelites.

Excellent shot. Nice, crisp colors. The wave is really huge, only the noise of the breakers is missing. Very impressive.
Regards, John.

bien joli cadre pour cette cérémonie étrange, la côte est belle et la mer bien présente et agitée et le soleil est de lapartie
bon coup d'oeil merci stephen

Stunning! I love everything about this!
I can imagine hearing the crashing waves, smelling the sea air, but also having a mystical feel about it beacuse of the religious ceremony.
It makes me feel all strange!
I would LOOOOVE to see this in poster size up on my wall, and being a surfer it would be a very strong image, almost like saying "surfing is a relgion"!

Stephen,
Excellent composition placing the people and outcropping to one side and the rough seas on the other. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.
TFS,
Asa

Indeed a great Biblical photo opportunity Stephen...
Obvious that a kind of religious service is being held, and you used that filmographic opportunity very well for the sake of photography.
I must admit that when i saw the thumbnail, i thought they were albino penguins, enjoying the powerful sound of tremendous waves :))
Cheers,
Deniz

Hi Stephen,
This is a famous marine landscape which is at the good place in your gallery. A good short exposition time to stop the wave position, fabulous colors for the landscape contrsting with the religious women (In that kind of scene, we usually can see penguins in front of the see ;-))

Very well done another time for that shot, thank's for sharing us!
Regards,
Olivier

Unusual, really otstanding shot.. with great story behind, so succesfuly given in your desription! It is really like looking back to Byblical times.. Giant waves, composition of white dressed people, technical quality.. You may be proud of! Perfect!!
With regards, Agnieszka

Hello Stephen
I hope there was no human sacrifice involved!
This is a truly remarkable shot and pretty unique even by TE standards I think.
You have captured this dramatic scene perfectly.
A very memorable image.
Best wishes Maggie

Hi Stephen,
A very unique capture with technical quality and visual impact complete with a curiosity, like, what exactly is going on here? Your biblical references are very appropriate. Great work and TFS. Gerald

They look like pilgrims indeed, and if this place is the destination of their pilgrimage, they have chosen a perfect spot fit for a religious service since it really reminds us of the story of Moses. You did a great job by capturing that huge wave. Fiery white waters compliment the people's white outfit. The compo is very good, too. Congrats.
Regards.

Absolutely stunning image! The colour and clarity of this is amazing, like really being there. That wave crashing into the shore appears like it's about to engulf all of the people, they seem so close. Superb!

Hi Stephen,

The marine landscape is splendid and this strange ceremony adds mystery to the unit. The natural colors and the light are superb, I like much. This beachcomber is impressive and misses us nothing any more but the noise of the sea and the breath of the wind. Thank you for sharing Stephen.

With all my friendships and a good WE,

Jean-Charles

good comparaison !
nicely composed :))
& great quality

Hi Stephen

what a great capture! great pov, exposure and composition, well done.

Derek

Wow, this one is so original that there's no need to discuss any lowly technical details. Your point of view was wisely chosen and that huge wave against those smallish human figures is truly impressive. Wow again, in lack of other words ;-)

Hey, I first though it was a glacier! But in northern england?!!! A really great shot and a tribute to the power of seas and oceans! Even too powerful for us human being sometimes... Tibo

Hi Stephen:

What a cool shot. Just incredible. I don't know what else to say other than that the capture of the religious group and that massive wave is the perfect combination. It certainly looks like parting the Red Sea. Wonderful work.
