[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a hike this summer to Fremont Point we ran into a fairly big storm heading in from Puget Sound. We turned back early and didn't make it to the Point because the clouds were so thick.

This was actually taken on our way back as the clouds were beginning to engulf the mountain. I chose black and white for this shot because I really don't do enough of it anymore and thought it'd be fitting for this scene.

Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Brian. Superb capture of what is an extremely impressive vista. The tonal quality in every part of the image is excellent and the sharpness is incredible. Pity it's not a bit bigger. Superb work. Paul.

Hello brian
Isn't there an error sying it's a coulred picture. For me it is b&w! (or I've to adjust seriously my monitor settings).
Anyway b&w works very well here with this beautifull sky!.
Best regards
JMarc

Hi Brian,

Great shot of Rainier. A good sky like this always makes for a wonderful photo. I like the choice of black and white--I think the conversion could have been done better though, giving more contrast between Burroughs Mtn, Mt. Rainier, and the sky. Overall, great shot, I always like seeing shots of Rainier on TE.
Thanks for sharing!

The drama in the clouds is what makes this image good. Like you I don't do as much with BW myself as I'd like but did with this image of Mount St. Helens. Of course, there wasn't much color to start with. LOL!!!'

Good choice of B&W. I think of Ansel Adams when I see B&W shots of mountains. The horizon is well placed to give the sky room to spread.
well done.

Not an easy task to take the decision to convert it in B&W. Nice mood and wonderful atmosphere. Nicely cropped as well.

Hi Brian:

Fantastic capture! With the clouds overhead, the low-lying ones around Rainier, and the alpine terrain in the foreground, this shot makes you feel like you're at the top of the world. The upper right corner seems a bit overexposed, but I would imagine this would be a tricky one to shoot. Otherwise it's a fantastic shot.
