The Abbey of Cluny (also known as Ancienne Abbaye) in Burgundy was the center of a major monastic reform movement in the Middle Ages. Its church was the largest Christian building in the world until the new St. Peter's Basilica was constructed in Rome in the 16th century.
The Abbey of Cluny was founded by Benedictine monks who wished to observe closer adherence to the Benedictine rule. One distinction was their commitment to offer perpetual prayer, emphasizing liturgy and spiritual pursuits over labor and other monastic activities.

Technical Notes
Cluny is very inspiring place to take pictures, but the sky was so terrible that there was no way to get a decent result with a single shot (see the first WS). So a quite heavy postprocessing has been necessary.
- overlapping of two exposures 2-stops away (-1/3 ; +5/3), one for the sky and one for the buildings. But also in this way the result of the double layer technique is quite flat (see the second WS).
- application of a slight Photoshop effect Bevel and Emboss separately to the layer of the sky and to the layer of the buildings. IMO this gimmick gives to the picture a characteristic 3D look, far from the flat original one-shot photography. |

Le résultat final est surprenant : il donne vraiment une impression de 3D qui est intéressante.

gli hai fatto proprio di tutto a questa immagine, e mi sembra che sia venuta fuori molto falsata soprattutto per i margini degli edifici.
Ho provato a vedere cosa so tirarci fuori io, grazie anche al fatto che hai messo a disposizione la foto "prima della cura". Gli ho dato complessivamente un po' più di colore...e lo sfondo lievemente azzurro, io uso fare così quando il cielo è proprio disperatamente bianco. Vediamo che ne dici!

Molto apprezzabile la chiarezza con la quale spieghi l'elaborazione. Una gratuita lezione d'uso di Photoshop a livello avanzato. Pochissimi condividono qui le loro competenze, e questo ti fa onore.

Ciao Dario, anch'io sono uno "scuritore di cieli". Come esempio vedi, nella mia galleria, la foto "Riu Geremeas", dove il cielo originale era ben piu' chiaretto (non ci sono diverse versioni e WS, ho pubblicato direttamente la foto col cielo modificato). Devo però dire che l'effetto di questa tua non è il massimo, soprattutto perchè si nota la cornicetta sfumata su tutta la linea di confine. Il resto della foto è comunque notevole. Ben scelta la lunghezza focale.
