This is the tomb of Queen Hayat Baksh Begum who died in 1677. She was the daughter of Ibrahim Qutb Shah and the wife of Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah.
This is one of the grander tombs, with an associated mosque. Both are decorated with delicate floral designs and calligraphy.
The Qutb Shahi tombs lie approximately 1.42 kms north northwest (as the crow flies) of the citadel in Golconda Fort. Supervised by the Archaeological Trust of India, the grounds are verdant and generally quiet. This is a good spot to take a picnic lunch, wander among the tombs and escape the tourist crowds. |
