The evening is gradually coming down on the age-old city of Kolkata, spreading on the bank of river Hooghly (The Ganges).

In 1690, Job Charnok, an agent of the East India Company, Britain chose the ancient Kolkata for a British trade settlement. The site was carefully selected, being protected by the Hooghly River on the west.

The Ganges still plays an important role in the lives of commuters who live across the river from Kolkata and work in the city. Every morning, thousands of people use the Kolkata ferry service to cross the river for a small fee . The boats in the snap though are used by the fishermen.

hi Avishek,
this is a nice b/w of the kumartuli ghat (i think so). The boats are nicely positioned in the frame. I like the overall framing of the composition. Only the conversion to black and white can be a slightly better.

regards

sayan

Hi Avisekh,
It seems you have converted it from coloured to B/W.Is it because of the blown out sky and bright daylight?Don't know. But I think, you could have done better with the conversion here. The POV is good, a nice calm and relaxed atmosphere. But the sky is bit dull and lacking in contributing to the beauty.
Greetings,
Dhurjati

Hi Avishek, I like this composition, it works well in b & w and I like the way you've positioned the boat with the width of the river visible in the background. Eye-catching shapes (boats, tree) and excellent definition. Good work! Regards,
Ryno

Hi avishek,
excellent shot. Very good framing; the placement of the boat and the tree at the upper left corner is simply perfect. Liked the tone and the overall mood. Well done.
best wishes,
sumit

Hello Avishek:
A simple image and with the delight of the photos in B/W, I like especially the framing and the contrasts although perhaps he lacks a little of definition. In any case a good work.

Best regards.

Hi Avishek!
Good choice of the b@w colour. Very artistic view at the boats and Ganges River. The photo is very well framed by branches of the tree.
Thanks for posting
