[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today is a my special day here on TE. It is exactly 3 years since I’ve joined this great network while searching for new places to visit. I’ve learned a lot about photography, understood much more why some photos have bigger impact and some are left behind. I’ve met some great people here and I’ve learnt a lot about new places to visit. For all these reasons I had to pick very special photo to post today. It is very recent one, taken in a country that is very close to my heart and currently also close to my home – Iran.

It was bit more than year ago that I’ve been there for the first time and could not get enough of photos of those (to my European eye) mysterious women in their black, whole body covering dresses (chador). How little I knew what has life prepared for me and that in bit more than a year, I’ll make Iran just a weekend trip destination dressed in very similar dress, this time already completely used to it and letting those shy women in peace. Actually better than that… I’ve took my friend with me and she model for me anytime I needed to add some human touch to those wonderful places of Iran. I didn’t have to wait in dark corner for some lonely woman to pass by so I could steal those few photos of her before she would run away...

we simply never know what is waiting out there for us…

Dag Lucie,
An image with high impact, also thanks to the note. Your lines in the compsotion are wonderful, higher contrast is not possible with that gold against the woman in black. Light in the foreground is wonderful, nothing to pick on that. On top on the ceiling above the pilars it's a bit to bright imho, you could push that a bit down in some darker tones, but please don't loose the detail in there.
Nevertheless a very good composed photo, i really like it.
Regards, Henk

Good shot Lucie!

The symmetry of pillars and the contrast between the black woman and the brown-red bricks makes a perfect work.

Thanks for sharing it!
Well done!

Congratulations on your 3rd anniversary. You have chosen an image with a very strong impact to celebrate the occasion. Beautiful symmetry, composition and light.

Salud!

Enrique

Hey Lucie! That's a great location for a great photo. Your friend model provides the scale and humaneness. The wide angle effect distort a bit too much in this case the verticals (did the change in workshop). The clutter in the background should be removed. There is also a string going from the left and through the head of your model that could have been removed for the shoot (if it was convenient to remove or not, I dont know). I am so amazed by the light and shadows...

Dear Lucinka,

happy birthay on TE as first.
You have so many excllent photos, so, you are within my favourits photographers.
This one is one among them, just telling us a story.

Warm regards from Serbia, take care,

Vlado

hello Lucie,
congrats for you TE-birthday ;o)
a nice composition with a good dynamic: details everywhere.
regards

muhteşem mimari, muhteşem fotoğraf...
selamlar

A very intersting photo, with the strong pillars (very detailed. The black dress on the woman, contrasts nicely with the rest of the photo.

I don't particularly like her gaze into the lens, and would have preferred a more natural pose, but she is nice to be your muse in your photos!

Thanks for showing us some of Iran.

Regards

Amazing shot and composition ! Congratulations .. Wish I can reach that level after 3 years on TE ;o)

Hi Lucie,
First of all, happy birthday on TE!
Composition and exposure are prefect as well as this place. Architecture in Iran is an art and is so simple in the same time. A pleasure for the eyes.
Best regards,
Pierre

Hi Lucie, very impressive image you've posted here. Very nice composition and the lady in black causes a nice contrast with the background. The frame completes the photograph. Very very nice!

Hi Lucie,
it's nice to spot Masjed e-Vakil interior with a woman to balance the image and give a touch of humanity.
Your note is great and... we are all awaiting for what was waiting for you when you got out...
A smile
Luca

Hi Lucie,
I do remember your great pictures from Iran (which actually only strenghted my idea of Iran as the country worth visiting, and I am very happy I went there last summer), and I am even feeling a bit jealous ;-))) That's wonderful in life that you never know what it's going to bring, and it's also great you are ready to take what it brings. Enjoy every day in Kuwait, with weekend trips to Iran and the other countries which are close (how was the Saudi Arabia, by the way? you didn't post any photos from there, but I can imagine taking pictures is not easy there...); Looking forward to see your pictures from Kuwait, greetings from Den Haag, Hanna

ps great intro photo! H.

Hi Lucie,
A great shot ! Congratulation for this picture and your TE-birthday ...
Ciao

Congratulations on your anniversary! Time flys when you are having fun. I like the incredible texture in this shot, with those columns and the brick work of the ceiling. This tends to give the photo a very tangible feeling. The addition of the person (staged or not) adds an essential human touch. Excellent as usual Lucie!

Hi Lucie

Great comp. Nice light and repetition. Very sharp with good detail. The woman really provides a contrast in black. Congrads on 3 years. Keep up the great work.

Hi Lucie
Congratulations for your 3rd year in TE. Nice photo to celebrate with.
I like the mood and composition, including the model and the positioning of the pillars.
IMO there are some spots oe and a vertical distorsion. Some brick on the floor at teh right could have been cropped.
Good work
TFS and bring us another 3 years

May be a posed but it looks great. Perfect positioning of the woman and the geometry looks brilliant.

Excellent as usual Lucie, lots of graphic architecture with just the right amount of human presence, though the lens distortion does give the illusion that your friend is about to fall on her back.

So much wonderful architecture in Iran...the light coming from outside is a bit difficult to manage, but you did it perfectly.
Well done Lucie, hope you show us more...
Cheers from Austria, Chris

Bonjour Lucie,
daniel

A great composition. The monochromatic picture is broken by the black figire. Congratulation for your TE birthday ! Your gallery is one of the best around. Cheers Stefano

congratultions on the occassion of your anniversary at TE!
the photo is cool, the only remark: I'd correct a little bit the horizon..
in my opinion the first plan pole and the lady in black should be more or less vertical, while you 'moved' this axis to the right..
it does not, however, affect my highest appreciation & evaluation :->
best regards - Tomasz

Very nice shot, congratulation and keep posting :-) I like the perspective in the shot, colors and contrast between light brownish bg and the lady in black ... while the lady there is presenting a middle aged Iranian woman dress ( like my mom probably ) which might not be religious but have to wear this at official jobs ...

TFS,

Hello Lucie,
First of all happy TE Birthday, even if I am late of some days, but I really mean it ;-)
It is true that your gallery does include some great pictures which I really enjoyed, especialy thinking of your recenty images from Pakistan.
This Iranian composition is very good and you used this pilar forest very well to enhance this woman in black. The golden light is beautiful and magnifies the details of this splendid architecture.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian
