[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
No real train in this picture just the tracks. Kazenz and I wanted to watch the Baypark Speedway Fireworks but didn't really want to watch the racing, so we sat opposite the Speedway on an abandoned railway track (the area also doubles as a motorcross track for those game enough to put their bikes through sand). This photo was taken looking down the abandoned track, which joins up to a railway line used everyday to transport goods to and from Tauranga Port's two locations. The top right hand side of this picture is probably my favourite because of the unexpected fireworks from a home in Bayfair Estate. I've done a little bit of post processing to reduce the noise and give an eerie atmosphere. (Shutter Speed was 20sec)

hello, jess.

an interesting, moody capture you have made here. i like the reddish atmosphere imposed by the signal light, the yellowish shrub on your right, the foreground bush, the rails with reflections and the trace of fireworks in the far right. i like how you have managed the light falling on the shrubs (did you use gaussian blur, or is the blur due to the long exposure + some wind?).

however, if i may say so, for my taste, the whole scene looks too random and does not tie together well. the rails lead into the left corner whre there is not much of interest (except a few traffic lights), while the fireworks (a potential point of interest) seem quite casual and random on the right. hmm. i guess, i would try to revisit the place again.

hope you do not mind my nitpicking here.

kind regards,
kristaps
