positive negative Photo

Photographer’s Note

A hill from the same POV as my photo "today" that I posted some days ago. Taken without tripod at 300mmm. At home I discovered, that the pattern of the trees in the fog was repeated in a negative way above.

I tried several ways to brighten up the trees in the dark zone, with the brush, with saturation, with colour changes. Finally I made a try with the gradation curve, which worked well and I was satisfied with the result.

very impressive oposition in this picture very sharp for a so long focale distance without tripod and so few light. the coloured trees are really nice lost in darkness. I like the idea and the way you show it.

Hello Christian,

There is a mystique in a fog that no other natural phenomenon can compete with. You've captured such a vision here. The trees display high resolution, but then there is the amorphous shroud of a fog.

Hello Chrisian,

I like this kind of photo with a play on the contrast between the white of the fog/clouds and the dark in the background with some lighted trees going out.
It is simple, very graphical and evidences in a perfect way the wildness of nature and all its interest.
Very good shot.

Lovely shot. Much better in full than the thumbnail. The fog is great (and not easy to capture, either) and I love the way you teased out the hints of color in the trees in the shadow zone - just enough but not overdone. Very good PP work!

I did think for a minute that the foreground was too whited out, but the more I look at it, the more it looks fine. It's needed to balance the dark.

This one is actually a masterpiece and your title sounds so well with it.It looks like the fog is flowing as water. Geraldine
