Frank Gehry, who was born here in Toronto in 1929, now lives in Los Angeles. He is famous for his unusual buildings, many of which are built from titanium sheeting. As I had never seen a Gehry building before, I was quite excited to have a side trip to Düsseldorf to see his 3-building Media Centre Apartment complex. Many people criticize his work as "functionless forms" and lacking harmony with the surroundings. Such criticism were leveled against the Eiffel Tower! One day, I hope to see his Guggenheim Museum in Bilboa Spain. One of his most recent projects is a re-design of the Art Gallery of Ontario, located only a few blocks from his birthplace (and much close to me than Spain!)
