Photographer’s Note

This past August I did some hiking up Mt Baker. This was my first summer up there and I found the scenery in this park simply stunning. I am going to restrict my postings to a series of photos that will display the wonderful beauty of the Mt Baker park area.
This was taken August 5th with still abundance of snow on the mountains. The snow on the road up to Artist Point was cleared just two weeks earlier. The lake on this side of the table is Bagley lake. The trail leads down to the water and then across a bridge to the other side. The trail leads up to the top table ridge that you can see included in the workshop. Once up to that table you can see a wonderful view of Mt Shuksan behind you and also Mt Baker. This was one of the confusing things I learnt about Mt Baker. And that is you will never see the Mt Baker peak unless you climb to the top of that ridge. Once you get up there a wonderful panorama view ( a later posting ) opens up before your eyes. Although I did hike many trails this past summer I would have to say that Mt Baker offers the hiker some spectacular views of alpine scenery. This photo is just the start of the Chain Lakes Loop. Enjoy!
