Photographer’s Note
A different view of the Los Angeles Metro, below from the underside. In a few spots on the network, light rail lines carry trains several stories above the ground, perhaps in an unintentional homage to the nearby futuristic vision of Disneyland's PeopleMover ride. This Metro Blue Line train is spotted approaching the elevated Slauson station in South Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Metro is a network of subway tunnels and light rail lines that extend across the city from the hub of downtown. For where the network reaches, the train system does a pretty good job, with efficient train service, and clean accommodations. The system is fairly young and does not yet have the lines and stops to really access the density of this geographically large urban region.
The system is divided into transit lines that serve specific regions: The Red Line, which links downtown to the San Fernando Valley; the Green Line, which links south Los Angeles County communities with the international airport; the Gold Line, which links downtown to Pasadena; and the Blue Line, which links downtown with Long Beach. A line linking downtown with the beach is in development but has not yet been established. There is some political opposition from the wealthy constituency of the ocean-bound westside communities, which see mass transportation as a threat to property values.
