Step back in time Photo

Photographer’s Note

During my regular Sunday walk, this time on the North Yorkshire Moors we arrived in Levisham to find ourselves transported back to the war years of the 1940's. People had travelled from all over the country in their finery. The atmosphere was fantastic. German guards, French, American and British forces personal mingling with members of the public. Steam trains arriving in the stations depositing more people.

The spiv in the picture was 'selling' chocolate, stockings, nail varnish and lipstic.

Appararently this event happens every year around this time so if you are in the area make a visit or even mark it in your diary.

I was there briefly too!
First time I've seen the event, and was well impressed by the effort taken to make everything so authentic.
You did well here to catch a moment with no one in modern dress in the frame.

Try in B&W to change the feeling of the picture, add some noise or scratchs...

Hi Denise,
Really fun shot, like a scene from dads army.
I also like the way they are all looking at the same thing to the right.
As Jean Claude says-it would look fine in B/W.

Hi Denise,

That is a great thing to be part of! Is there an internet site where you can find more information on this festival? Very original and a great composition. Would perhaps have used the highlight tools / curves tool to get the blacks a bit less grey. But a nice one!
