[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This seemed to me like quite a relaxed picture to wish you all a happy weekend.
It was taken in the Zoo when I was there with a fellow-"Photographer". Quite nice for a change, because normally I have at least 2 children (my grandsons) to watch and they are tugging at my sleeve to go in a thousand directions at the same time, so you can imagine that photography is not an option then.
I'm not quite sure if I like Zoo's (seeing animals caged in - that is) but over the last few decennia this Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen has quite substantially improved on the housing/habitat for their animals.
The only animals that were showing disturbing behaviour were 2 male polar bears.
I was not going to make a note, but before you know it you have written something.
Thanks for reading then
Els

Hi Els. Great shot of these fascinating birds. I had the privilege to swim in the waters off Dominican Republic while they were diving for fish. Not so relaxed then......! Anyway, the tight crop and pin-shapr focus make this almost 3-D. Excellent and TFS. Paul.

Hi,
A difficult shot in what looks like harsh light and you have lost a little detail in the bright region but a very good portrait. That yellow colour is really attractive. Thanks.
Dougie.

Hello Els,
You have captured some impressive details in this fellow!
Good frame with excellent plumage, the bird looks majestic in this fine pose...
I like the sidelight, outlining the subject and making him really stand out!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Els,
I understand what you mean about zoos there are some good ones and some not so good ones. I don't like the ones that just have animals for intertainment. I like your photo, the close up shot really makes me look at his eyes and his appartant looking at you wondering what your doing..:o) The oolor is very nice and I like the crop. TFS

Hi Els,

Great shot! I like the very good sharpness and detail, specially of the feathers, as well as the very good colors. Great composition and nice simple frame.

Hi Els,
Wow, the details here are stunning, with great clarity of beautiful colors. The green background highlights the intricate beauty of this lovely creature. Excellent composition. TFS

Hoi Els,

Groetjes, Nel

Hi,
I'm very fond of pelicans and am admiring your image. If I may make a technical comment: one of the problems here is that the paleness of the feathers is "blown out" in most areas. I believe thats the right term. This is the curse of digital cameras: pale colours are often too pale and the detail here of the feathers is lost. If the paleness is not too extreme, going into PhotoShop and using the dodge and burn tool can correct this, at least partly. Otherwise I think there is no cure - the colours simply haven't been captured.
Go to Trek Nature and look for pelicans - there are some wonderful shots there.
All the best.
John

Hello Els!
It's one of the best pelican captures ever captured on a photo, I think. Excellent detail and color. Well held tight crop.
Greetings!
Anton
