Photographer’s Note
This was taken in a Mevlevi Ayini in CRR (Cemal Resit Rey) concert hall.
Mevlevi ayini is a religious ceremony in Mevlevi sect, with music and dance perfomed by dervishes.
A dervish first salutes the master and kisses his hand. Then starts spinning/whirling dance. As the dervish spins his soul is released and goes beyond his body. Dervish rises to a higher level and starts to fly to reach teh holy thing that we miss...
PS: Explanation in this note is not an official (if there is one) explanation of Mevlevi Ayini. It is just what i feel about it.

"Come, come again, whoever, whatever you may be, come: Heathen, fire-worshipper, sinful of idolatry, come.
Come even if you have broken your penitence a hundred times,
Ours is not the portal of despair and misery, come."

Haluk, a great photo! I have heard of the dervish but have not seen a photo in Trekearth. Excellent movement for a difficult shot. Thanks, Garry

Hi Haluk,
Perhaps the shot is not techically perfect, but I like it because the atmosphere. I have been once in a dervishes ceremony and it was amazing.

Mirari
