Photographer’s Note
Patrolling the poppies in Southern Afghanistan. These ones were just about to be cultivated. The farmers were still allowed to grow their poppies until altenative crops could be found, as destruction of their crop would destroy their livelihood. This was the last crop this farmer produced. After this he switched to maize.

Low resolution n quality and as for poppy, it's a cash crop. I believe even if farmers temporarily switch to other crops, there will always be a temptation towards return to poppy. There is high demand, people will do anything to supply.
Hope they find other incentives to eradicate poppy and CORRUPTION!
