[Photo scene info & motivation]
This photo is a leap in time in my holiday, I planned to post photo's chronologically, but by posting this one, I've ruined the plan..
Well so be it :)

This photo is taken on the last day of our visit too Paros, we we're waiting for the ferry to go to Syros. This holiday we experienced Greek ferry's are often late..but this time (the ferry was late 1-1,5 hour) I couldn't mind, else I had to spend the time around sunset inside the ferryboat. And now we were still in the harbour.

We we're waiting inside the gates at Paroikia (the capital of Paros) harbour. The waiting gates look awefull, a bit like a jail, because the fences have bars, but from between the bars you can make some photo's. I made this one with my telelens attached, easier to avoid the bars in the frame.

It can be noted that the church from my last photo, can be seen in this photo, under the sun, a bit too the left.

Decisive moment? Why? Well this man was walking around freely in the harbour, while we where behind bars. I took photo's in some directions while this man walked around. I returned with the camera on my eye to this scene and saw the man sitting there. I took one photo, turned into another direction again, came back and he was walking again.
He sat down for only a matter of seconds..Why? I don't know :)
I liked his posture and clicked. I'm glad I did, because the scene was not as static as it looks like..

133mm, F8 @ 1/250th, RAW @ ISO 200, Pattern Metering, EV +1,3.

I guess that was it, did the processing 2 days ago.

A technically perfect photo with a strong nostalgic touch.
Very good frame with very good placement of your subjects.

A first rate panoramic capture of Paroikia,Syros. Indeed, it is so much better to provide the expansive horizontal view here. The sun still painting these extraordinary pastoral colors in the sky and the silhouette of the man sitting on the jetty and watching this splendid sunset, makes this a memorable shot.Well done my friend.

The silhouette here truly makes this image and tells your story, Emiel. It's quite a respectable sunset shot, with the water and skyline and foreground adding good context and perspective. But it is this man in repose that takes the photo beyond the cliche. Good composition the way you've positioned him within the frame and with respect to the sun.

Beautiful. You caught the shadows well and clear. The sun creates (like always) a split composition and you have to decide about the colors and WB to use. Successful in both, this is one of your good posts.
