Photographer’s Note
Iceland is not called the land of fire and ice for nothing. I don't know of anywhere else in the world one might find a boiling, steaming hot spring just next to a huge glacier.
I was lying on my belly to get a low angle. I only think I succeeded partly in making the little fountain stand out.
The dark layers in the glacier are ashes from volcanic eruptions. (Hekla, for example, is very nearby).

Good layering effect here Mikkel. I also like your composition and title, with the boiling water almost becoming the focal point with the energy you have caught in it. A subtle, yet nice looking shot. Good color and contrast with a perfect exposure.
Nice work

I can almost feel the heat of that boiling water. The same kind of phenomena can be seen in New Zealand, at least in the South Island where very hot water pools are surrounded by snow.
Your photo is excellent with the vertical POV. The front of the glacier is worst a picture, as the layers of ice and ash make it very interesting. Well done.

Mikkel,
a great tight framing of a huge contrast - glacier and boiling water just some feet apart. I love such contrasts in nature and it seems to me that you did a great job in getting it into a single shot.
Regards, Peter
